Prioritize colonizing nice high-production and high-food worlds early, and worry about sending population to cold worlds later.

Sophons: Excellent midgame past ~turn 60. Very powerful if you make it to turn 70-80. Almost requires science politics for the bonus to ship movement. The optimal way to raise your population is to use spaceports to send population away from 1-pop worlds, due to the huge increase in population costs, but riftborn have a movement penalty on their ships, which nerfs their logistics ships greatly. Riftborn: Can expand very quickly in the early game, but extremely slow to ramp up in midgame. Lumeris: Starting as a pacifist republic would make them top tier by default, but their ability to colonize everything they see in addition to their optimist trait (+20 approval) allows them to grow and expand quickly as well.Ī-Tier (powerful race mechanics, but not as strong as S) Bonus points if you can politic swap to pacifist. Once it hits level 12, the other factions are done for. Can easily reach 3-4k production per turn in a single Arc by turn 60, and the starter hero is the most overpowered hero in the game, bar none. Vodyani: Minorly start dependant, but anybody who claims they cannot operate if they don't find a minor civ immediately is playing improperly. Guardians give excellent happiness boost, and the incredible population advantage allows them to win in any way they like. The start hero also gives incredible, ridiculous influence gain. Vineships stack to expand faster, and Pacifist is the strongest politic type by far and away. Unfallen: Incredible food production and expansion. Produces 2x the FIDSI of any other race (except for a pacifist republic with 7 peace treaties) for the entire game, and can go massively over the planet limit for happiness using Military politics and Them Or Us (military law), while maintaining an ecstatic empire the whole time. S-Tier (strongest races, viable with any start)Ĭravers: Absolutely broken, not start dependent after patch 1.05, and once you learn to micromanage your slavery and wars you never deplete planets and have no downsides.
